The Hippocampal Region of the Domestic Pig: A Histochemical, Immunocytochemical, and Morphometrical Study

This study provides a comparative description of the hippocampal region of the domestic pig, in order to use the domestic pig as an experimental model for hippocampus-related clinical conditions, such as temporal lobe epiloepsy and Alzheimer's disease. The results indicate that the overall organization of the pig hippocampus is fundamentally similar to that of other mammals, including humans.
