Description ▲
Ingvar Cronhammar is a modern Scandinavian sculptor. Although born in Sweden (1947) he chose, because of the conformity of Sweden, to be educated in Denmark at the Aarhus Academy of Arts from 1968 to 1971. At the beginning of his career he was inspired by American environmental art. During the 1990s he developed a strong sculptural language without any real reference to modern art - in the late 1990s his art is created with materials such as hides, rubber, iron, oil and water. One of Cronhammar's main interests is the "urban space" and the dialogue between art and arhitecture. Ingvar Cronhammar is a postmodern concept artist. This book includes a text about his work by the Danish writer, Peter Laugesen, and a poem by the Danish artist, Christian Lemmerz, but first of all it lists and illustrates more than 40 Cronhammar works from the period.
