Storaro-Covili: Il Segno Di Un Destino/The Sign of a Destiny

The First Part is a visual/cinematographic voyage, a journey to knowledge undertaken by Vit¬to¬rio Sto¬raro who, from film to film, discovers and encounters artists from all over the world who express themselves through a kind of PAINTING that differs from the classical; painting that is not officially recognized by critics in Books, Academies and Museums. By aligning his Vision with various types of Painting of which he has a direct knowledge, with each project Storaro rediscovers PRIMITIVE PAINTERS, Comic Strip Artists, Miniaturists, Cartoonists, Fabulists, Illustrators, Mandalists, Mosaicists and so forth... from various countries. He follows a path between his Cinematography and Painting that is often executed by unknown artists: a form of expression in the figurative Arts from which he draws nourishment and inspiration for many of his Cinematographic works. On this journey VIT¬TO¬RIO STO¬RARO met GINO COVILI, they became friends, discovered their creativity together, then decided to realize a project together. Hence the second part of the book is a journey into Covili's figurative world conducted by a visionary like Storaro, and divided into various stages. The Prologue Life in the Mountains, the encounter with the violence of nature. The fight between animals and men. The Hunters (The Summer) The Apennine horsemen capture the great mountain birds of prey. The Village (The Autumn ) Community life in the Apennines. The gathering of the patriarchal family struggling to become share-croppers. Man ( The Winter ) Man succumbs to the elements of nature, the Artist witnesses the break-up of society.. Nature (The Spring) Man frees himself from nature's tentacles, he returns to popular traditions and understands the cycle of life through the cherry blossom festival. The Epilogue Man/the Artist experiences a creative and moral rejuvenation, dancing to the sound of the merry-go-round of life.
