Description ▲
In the course of time, communication has become one of the most important objectives of development for the United Nations and their Communications Group, where UNWTO is actively represented. The reports of the UNWTO Information and Communications Department presented here are based on the Regional Conferences on Tourism Communications (TOURCOM), a line of conferences which initially started in Madrid in 2004 and which afterwards took place all over the world. These proceedings compile the speeches and presentations of the TOURCOM conferences held in Rosario, Argentina and Bamako, Mali in May 2006 with a special focus on communication issues in the Americas and Africa. The two publications examine the full range of communication aspects in tourism such as a successful communication, public relations techniques and the evolution of tourism communications as well as crisis communications and travel advisories. They also include case studies of trends in tourism communications, as well as best practices of tourism-media networking.
