Social Health Insurance: Selected Case Studies from Asia and the Pacific (WHO Regional Publications SEARO Series)

Many countries of Asia and the Pacific region are among those actively seeking ways to reform health care financing systems to ensure access to health care for all their citizens. This publication deals specifically with sharing the experience of social health insurance development through a study of the existing schemes in 12 selected countries, in the South-East Asia and the Western Pacific Regions of the World Health Organization. These two WHO Regions include both the largest and the small countries of the world.

The primary purpose of the collection, compilation and analysis of country case studies on social health insurance schemes and their potential development is to expand the literature by including the recent records of comprehensive reviews. The second purpose is to facilitate the development of social health insurance through the review at national level of, technical cooperation between countries and of advice from the international development partners.
