Atelier Bugio - Joao Favila Menezes

Atelier Bugio was founded in 1980 by architect João Luís Sousa Menezes. From 1998 to 2005 it was directed by João Favila, Teresa Goes Ferreira and Luis Rosário. Since 2005 it has been coordinated by João Favila. Since the studio has family ties on the island of Madeira, this is where its early works were produced. Reflection on the cultural, material and geographical aspects of the island formed the basis of the studios research which can be seen in the work carried out today. Projects include the Quinta de Casa Branca, the Casa Gonçalo Ornelas Monteiro, the Casa Ricardo Diogo all of them in Funchal, Hotel Porto Santo on the island of Porto Santo (Madeira), the Casa Maria Borges in Lisbon, Hotel Aljezur in Vale dos Polvos, and Edíficio Dafundo in Oeiras.
