Festivals and Flowers

This delightful title is both a calendar and account of events associated with the months of the Burmese year. For each month there is a poem (in both Burmese and English) and a description of the activities of that particular time of year. Each is richly illustrated with a garland of the flowers of the season and beautiful water-colour paintings.

The book is the outcome of collaboration between author Daw Khin Myo Chit, artist Paw Oo Thet, and the founder and editor of Orchid Press, Mr. Hallvard Kuloy. The joy and enthusiasm with which they set about creating the book is quite apparent in the finished product; unfortunately, all three have passed away since the project's inception. Festivals and Flowers thus stands as a fitting testament and tribute to three very talented people, brimming over with love for the country of Burma and its people.
