Description

A Single Shard is what Tree-ear finally delivered to the royal court. Tree-ear was an orphan kid when Craneman took charge of him; Craneman was too proud to beg for money or food so they lived under the bridge getting their food from looking for leftovers in other people s trash. Their little village was famous for its pottery work, and Tree-ear was fond of watching Mane, the best pottery maker in the village. He would sneak every day in Mane s backyard to watch him create his artistic works and wished that one day he would be able to be as clever as Mane. One day, Tree-ear found the works of Mane left unattended, he approached to watch it more closely and accidently dropped one broken. To compensate the pottery maker, Tree-ear had to work with him for 9 days for free, but the 9 days extended to be a year and a half, against a meal a day. How was Tree-ear assigned for his trip to the royal court? And what happened during this trip? Linda Sue Park tells us in a beautiful way this story of devotion from Korea. The Arabic translation of the book is suitable for young adults in a way that enriches their vocabulary.
