Colonial Architecture in Ile-Ife, Nigeria

When the British colonized Nigeria, they brought their concepts of administration and justice, new religions and educational opportunities. They also built the various physical structures they needed to cary out their business of colonization. Many of these buildings were typically European. Some were built to reflect the power of the colonial administration. These buildings have influenced Yoruba vernacular architectural practices.
