Waves. Acoustic Space #6

Waves is the catalogue of the 8th International Festival for New Media Culture Art+Communication which took place in Riga, August 24-26, 2006 and international media arts festival Waves at the Exhibition Hall Arsenals of the Latvian National Museum of Art in Riga, August 25- September 17, 2006. The exhibition featured about 40 international works of media art created by 70 artists from 18 countries all over the world. The main theme of the festival and exhibition was Waves electromagnetic waves as a material and medium in the arts and waves as a universal principle. Themes: waves science, radio astronomy, spectrum mapping, sonoluminiscence, radio oceanogrophy, cetacean acoustics, waves art, visualisation and sonification, alternative communication systems, insular technology, wireless/ad-hoc networking, waves philosophy, wave/particle duality, waves sculpture, sine wave, signal-to-noise ratio, determinism vs. indeterminism, quantum spacetime bubbles, global scaling theory etc.
