Telecommunications in India

The Indian technology sector is a dichotomy. The country has one of the most advanced IT and software sectors in the world but one of the lowest teledensities, despite being the 14th largest telecom market. The government is taking steps to improve the state of the telecom industry in India, but expensive phone service, long waiting times for line installation, and a large number of poor people living in rural villages make such a task difficult.
