Marine molluscs of Mauritius

Fifty years ago our island could boast of vast numbers of molluscs: large numbers of species, many of them represented by hundreds of specimens. Now the number of species has not gone down very much, but the number of individuals have sadly dwindled. The reduction in numbers is due to overcollection.
