"Storm in the West" is a traditional American western, full of good guys and badmen, a hanging, an antiseptic love affair, vindictiveness, revenge, suspense, action, and a rip-roaring climax. What lifts it boldly from the ranks of typical westerns is that fact that it was written by one of the few, great, world-famous American writers, Sinclair Lewis, in collaboration with the kindliest and most intellectual 'infant terrible' who ever ran a Hollywood motion picture study, Dore Schary. . . and that the movie was never made and this story was buried because of its most interesting feature: it is an allegory of World War II.
