Google, one of the most used search engines on the Internet, has recently provided a set of APIs that allow developers to add search functionalities to their applications. In the last year we have read about the great new features provided by the use of Web Services. They provide data exchange using TCP/IP protocols such as HTTP and SMTP, using a standard text file format: XML. However, until now, we have seen only very simple Web Services such as ZIP code and free Short Message Service (SMS) message sending services. Google APIs are one of the first concrete examples of Web Services. In this article we will see how to use Google APIs in order to implement search functionality in an ASP.NET application.
