From the supplier: When Zenith Distributing was awarded a May 1983 contract to supply Z-100 series personal computers to the University of Kansas, the contract prices were unilaterally extended to faculty, staff, students, and other state agencies. In spite of the Z-100's IBM PC incompatibility, the Zenith has proven successful. MS-DOS compatibility made a wide range of software available, and the university met the early need for basic training in MS-DOS, WordStar, and Multiplan in its 14-system teaching lab. A contract for the Z-150 line, which has greater IBM PC compatibility, was awarded in 1984, and by 1985 thousands of Zenith systems had been installed state-wide.
