From the supplier: The first Compact Disk-Interactive (CD-I) publishers and developers conference in the US showcased CD-I hardware and applications and the related Photo CD technology developed by Eastman Kodak Co (Rochester, NY). CD-I units play CD-ROMs and CD-ROM-like disks that store up to 600Mbytes of digital audio and/or video. The players are connected to televisions and stereo equipment and controlled with a remote control device that also includes a joystick for moving an on-screen cursor. CD-I disks include interactive educational applications and games. Available CD-I players include the CD-I 601 and 602 models from Philips Consumer Electronics Co (Knoxville, TN) and the CD-I Interactive Compact Disk Viewer from Sony Corp (San Jose, CA). A number of CD-I titles from Philips are briefly described. Details of Kodak's Photo CD technology, which stores up to 100 35mm film images on a single disk, are discussed.
