From the supplier: The actuarial profession is very concerned about the future of the nation's pension system, according to American Academy of Actuaries Vice Pres Larry Zimpleman. The Academy executive voiced this opinion at a press briefing on the financial status of the Social Security system, private pensions and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. He also said that a bipartisan commission was needed to deal with the problems. Academy Exec Dir James J. Murphy said that the Academy supports Rep J.J. Pickle's legislation that would set stringent limitations on underfunded pension plans.
