From the supplier: Books are powerful mediums which help shape children's knowledge, attitudes and behavior. However, it was noted that an increasing number of early children's books focus on the negative elements of aging, depicting the elderly as sad, eccentric, boring and poor people. This reinforces the ageist attitudes of the young. Thus, there is a need for careful selection of of early children's literature to promote positive attitudes towards the aged and help children adapt to the aging process. A list of books which contain positive depictions of the aged are presented and recommended for use since promotion of positive attitudes can help improve the lives of the elderly.
