From the supplier: Iowa State University is developing a computerized employment information system based on a user-friendly application of the Oracle data base management system in 1991. The prototype for the system emerged over several semesters in an introductory Management Information Systems course. The object of the system is to bring students easy access to information retrieval and data base technologies, integrate career-related information into the data base, and provide a system that features extensive on-line help and can be accessed from both on- and off-campus locations. The Computer Aided Route to Enhanced Employment Research system will be implemented in three stages. First students will be hired to conduct extensive employer surveys, then information will be transferred to the campus mainframe and finally, resurveying will be conducted to keep the system up-to-date.
