From the supplier: The Indian Hill School District (Cincinnati, OH) selected The Lastar Group (Dayton, OH) to link all the classrooms in the district's four schools into one voice-data communications network. The district wanted every classroom to have access to computers to enable teachers to manage and integrate the teaching/learning experience and keep up with advancements in their respective fields. Lastar installed a 12-strand fiber-optic network in the schools and over existing cable-television aerial lines between the schools in a manner that would allow maximum flexibility for future expansion and reconfiguration. The company also provided cost-effective on-site training to enable the district to troubleshoot many problems on their own. The district involved teachers in a district-wide Technology Planning Committee that would integrate computing technology into the classroom. Examples of the successful use of the computer network are discussed.
