From the supplier: Attorneys' Liability Assurance Society Ltd (ALAS) posted gross incurred losses of $363.8 million for fiscal year 1993, which is a 44% increase from 1992 and 197% increase from 1990. ALAS also posted 1993 net income of $64 million, an increase of $55.6 million from 1992. ALAS sells malpractice insurance to large legal firms, but has not been able to determine any pattern to the increase in liability losses. From 1990 to 1993, the insurer has incurred losses of $903.3 million, of which the savings and loan failure accounted for $294.9 million.
