From the supplier: One of the main reasons politicians shy away from privatization is because of the strong response it always evokes from public employees and their unions. This is a big problem since the success of privatization depends to a large extent on the cooperation of the public employees. It should be stressed to them that privatization need not be a negative experience for existing employees. On the part of the city government, sincere efforts should be taken to minimize the impact privatization can have on public employees.
