From the supplier: Public schools often have to balance their security concerns against other equally important considerations. For most, financial constraints mandate that school security procedures be extremely cost-effective, a situation that rules out investment in sophisticated security systems. Objections to metal detectors and surveillance cameras are another factor that make it difficult to install such security devices. As such, most schools rely on a mix of barrier-oriented systems, such as fences and bars, and relatively inexpensive devices such as radio communication systems and burglar alarms.
