From the supplier: Electronic brainstorming (EBS) makes use of advanced technology to help organizational members generate and exchange ideas. It is designed in such a way that meeting participants need not leave their place of work to contribute to brainstorming sessions. By using their computers, they can send their ideas to other participants anonymously and synchronously. EBS has advantages and disadvantages that should be considered by those interested in using it. On the positive side, it offers anonymity, novelty and equality, enables meetings to take place even if participants are physically dispersed, allows the use of software tools, and does not limit the number of meeting participants. On the negative side, EBS does not work well with small groups, eliminates social interaction, denies credit to the people who have contributed good ideas, requires keyboard skills and can be manipulated to promote individual intentions. EBS can also be costly.
