From the supplier: Compaq introduces new DeskPro and DeskPro XL 486- and Pentium-based systems with the Intelligent Manageability feature that automates many LAN tasks. The DeskPro models come with an integrated network card for PCI Ethernet or ISA Token Ring, 8MB or 16MB of RAM expandable to 132MB or 192MB, enhanced PCI local bus graphics, and a PCI IDE interface for hard disk and CD-ROM. The DeskPro XL models have a PCI/EISA bus, 32-bit PCI Ethernet networking, PCI Fast SCSI-2, and scalable processors; their QVision 2000 graphics chips provide 1,280-by-1,024 resolution at high performance. The AssetControl feature makes it easy to determine LAN components; enhancements in the areas of fault prevention and recovery, security, and serviceability are described.
