From the supplier: The Stafford County Public Schools district is using a partnership between schools and businesses in order to improve the quality of education in the district. The program is called Bringing Occupational Opportunities to Schools (BOOTS) and it allows students to discover and develop interests in the private sector. The program began with a donation of $10,000 and a construction loan of $60,000 from a bank. Each fall, a group of students uses CAD software to develop plans, elevation drawings, electrical plans and wall section drawings for a construction site. These plans are then submitted to the local code and compliance office for a building permit, after which another board decides which of the various proposals will be the most appropriate for the site. The house is then built and sold for a profit and the program has accumulated $55,000 in net assets.
