From the supplier: The modern public educational system in the US was designed to address urban problems that arose due to increasing industrialization. This has created a dilemma for many rural public schools. One of the biggest problems is their inability to obtain sufficient funds for expenditures for basic as well as alternative programs that are especially helpful to rural students, such as programs for gifted students, advanced placement courses and courses for pregnant students. Public education prepares students for employment in industry and businesses in urban areas. Thus, it fails to sufficiently address the needs of students who prefer to stay and work in rural areas.
