From the supplier: Businesses are increasingly participating in community development projects. Many are partnering with national organizations, government agencies, philanthropists and other businesses to turn their neighborhoods around. Companies can contribute to such projects by making use of inner-city resources for business purposes, becoming involved in local and national systems of support for inner-city community development, and directing corporate charitable activities toward urban renewal projects. Several community building initiatives, such as St. Nicholas Neighborhood Preservation, New Community Corp. and Tacolcy Economic Development Corp., prove that investing in the inner city can and does succeed. Some do's and don'ts of corporate community development investing are discussed.
