From the supplier: Latin American business interests and governments want to complete the Pan-American highway by 2000, but doing so would mean paving part of Panama's Darien Gap. The gap consists of primary rainforest, some of which is legally inhabited by indigenous peoples. As the land bridge linking North and South America, the gap is a area where the continents' species intermingle. UNESCO has designated Darien National Park as a World Heritage Site.
