From the supplier: One property management company has successfully implemented an effective safety program that keeps its employees from harm and protects the firm from expensive medical costs. The first step involved in the development of such program was raising employees' awareness of safety and its importance. This was achieved by having a state safety inspect speak at an all-employee meeting. The next step involved the formation of a safety committee made up of representatives from different properties and the headquarters. This team created a draft safety program, which was then submitted to the state inspector for review and revision. This committee now meets four times a year to talk about safety performance, to deal with unexpected safety issues and develop a safety incentive program. As a result of this initiative, employees at the company now work in safety.
