From the supplier: Technology is key to improving education, with the computer being an important learning tool. Microsoft CEO Bill Gates describes the company's vision of the role of technology in education in terms of a 'Connected Learning Community,' linking students, educators, parents and the community with information via PCs and the Internet. The community will take the form of networked school districts, connections between schools and homes, and links to the larger world of schools, museums, libraries and companies. Schools must be connected to all groups that can contribute to the educational process. While the structure will allow students to learn more independently, teachers will continue to play a vital role in directing students and giving context to the technology. Microsoft plans to expand its software offerings and assist teachers in integrating technology in the classroom in an effort to realize this goal.
