From the supplier: Technology-based learning tools are viewed as motivational, productive and empowering, but many students in America's public schools are denied access to such tools due to limited resources. Inequities of gender, ethnicity and class directly correlate with restricted access to technology learning tools. The unequal access to new technologies in the public school systems will result in future societal loss. The majority of schools do not have the resources to provide high-tech learning equipment, due to governmental budget restraints. Technology provides students with tools for individual learning, group interaction, expression and knowledge production. The District-Wide Technology Plan advocates the transfer of computers from school labs to school classrooms. The plan focuses on higher graduation rates and higher student achievement for all students. Equity of access to technology learning tools requires new funding sources and the assurance that all students receive adequate resources and opportunities.
