From the supplier: UN statistics show that in 1991, the richest 20% of the world's population earned 61 times more income than the poorest 20%. The same report also indicates that in the same year, the income share of the world's poorest one-fifth is pegged at 1.4%, while those of the richest fifth increased to 85%. The income disparities have driven people to migrate or work in richer countries or move from rural to urban areas. In most sub-Saharan African countries, the per capita income during the 1980s since at least one-third of all college graduates have left the continent due to poverty and lack of job opportunities.
