From the supplier: The telecommunications industry is fast becoming the domain of giant companies with investments in almost all sectors of the market. This explains why rapidly evolving information technologies have failed to fulfill their potential to make the mass media more democratic and raise the quality of community- and education-oriented media programming. The broadcasting industry should push for revitalized antitrust enforcement and encourage the setting up of publicly owned and publicly operated networks in the tradition of the PBS to prevent the trend towards concentration in the industry.
