From the supplier: Advances in the understanding of the biological causes of mental disorders and in the use of psychopharmacologic agents have increased the knowledge base needed for effective child psychiatric nursing. The major parts of the nervous system are the peripheral and central nervous systems. The latter consists of the brain and the spinal cord. The largest part of the brain is the cerebrum, which contains nervous system pathways, the cerebral cortex, the amygdala, the hippocampus and the basal ganglia. Neurotransmitters carry messages between the neurons of the brain.
