From the supplier: Myanmar is fast becoming a haven for foreign investors. With an excellent average annual GDP, the lowest labor costs in Asia and a significant market in Southeast Asia, it is no surprise that the country is able to attract foreigners despite reports of the military regime's treatment of political opponents. In fact, some companies praise the autocratic government of the State Law and Order Restoration Council for minimizing bureaucracy in its administration. The government has also introduced a competitive, liberal investment code that opens the financial sector of Myanmar to foreign countries. It also solicits the advice of resident foreign executives regarding policies to accommodate investors. Nevertheless, companies that intend to do do business there should be prepared to deal with criticisms in their own country for cozying up to the military regime of Myanmar.
