From the supplier: Electronic Data Systems (EDS) Pres. and CEO Les Alberthal Jr. is following a growth strategy for his already huge company. He was responsible for persuading the board of parent General Motors to free EDS as an independent entity to allow it to grow on its own. The organization split off from its parent in June 1996. Alberthal's goal is to create a culture that allows and motivates employees to be creative and free to make contributions for the good of the organization, which ultimately will translate to better service to customers and coworkers. This will help EDS maintain long-term contracts with its clients, an important ingredient for success in its business. In addition, Alberthal is entering new businesses, including Internet and other new media, and looking for new acquisitions. EDS may also partner with a telecommunications provider to control its costs.
