From the supplier: Eudora Welty created a unique style of Southern gothic writing that transcends its usual stereotypical version. She used setting, spectacle, the condition of trapped women and grotesque physical features to probe character and enhance the vision of the reader-spectator. She differed from William Faulkner because she pushed further the boundaries of the gothic within which he had worked.
