From the supplier: Deutsche Tiefkuhlinstitut Dir Manfred Sassen reports that Germans consumed 1.7 million tons of frozen foods in 1996 excluding uncooked poultry and ice cream. Frozen foods sales for the year reached 11.7 billion marks and was higher by 3.6% over 1995 sales figures of 11.4 billion marks. Sassen said that private household purchases made up most of the revenues and accounted for 7.33 billion marks. This amount translates to 937,000 tons of frozen foods sold and comprised 57% of the frozen foods category in 1996.
