From the supplier: Kansas City, KS' Board of Public Utilities has intelligently been preparing for the year 2000 problem since the late 1980s. Thus, all programs developed since then have been designed to use a four- instead of a two-digit year. Outside vendors who supplied non-year 2000 compliant financial accounting and management reporting systems have pledged to upgrade non-compliant systems by the end of 1998. BPU has also been surveying the city's financial institutions which handle long-term and operating investments, and has been ensuring that their systems will be able to cope with the shift from 1999 to 2000.
