From the supplier: The prevention of attacks by animal rights groups is on top of the security agenda at Glaxo Wellcome, one of world's largest pharmaceutical operations. In 1998 alone, the company's facilities in the greater London, England, area were the target of about 50 incidents perpetrated by animal rights activists. Glaxo Wellcome's security management adopts a layered approach to physical security, which involves rigid parameter protection and restricted access to buildings and internal areas which are considered sensitive, such as testing laboratories and rooms where animals are kept. Staff members are reminded to be responsible for securing valuables. Scientists and support staff are also trained on security awareness for the protection of patents and other valuable information.
