From the supplier: Pedro de Ribadeneyra is known throughout the religious world as both a dedicated Spanish Jesuit priest and a respected biographer. The last 37 years of his life were devoted to writing and scholarly endeavors. He produced writings on a variety of topics, including political theories, correspondences, translations of Latin texts and biographies of famous people. Among his most distinguished biographies were that of his friend and mentor, St Ignatius de Loyola and a pious laywoman, Estefania Manrique de Castilla. He shared his beliefs and sentiments towards a renewed and activist Catholicism in his autobiography, 'Confessions.'
