From the supplier: Two essential factors are involved in the economic analysis of law. They are the prediction of behavior in reaction to legal guidelines, with those responsible assumed to be forward looking and rational, and the evaluation of outcomes relative to well-articulated measures of social welfare. The view adopted in scrutinizing law is the standard one of economics. However, a relatively small but expanding group of scholars have focused on research pertaining to the economic analysis of law since roughly the early 1970s.
