From the author: Ingratiatory behavior in organizations has been found to increase perceptions of favoritism and inequity, and lower levels of satisfaction. However, little is known about the effect of individual differences on these perceptions. To shed light on this issue, the influence of several individual difference variables was examined when ingratiatory behavior was present to explore the effects on perceptions of favoritism, and an individual's satisfaction with work, a supervisor, and an ingratiatory co-worker. Implications for researchers and practitioners are explored.
