Edwidge Danticat's books include the novels Breath, Eyes, Memory; The Farming of Bones, which received an American Book Award in 1999; and The Dew Breaker, which was published this year; and the story collection Krik? Krak!, which was nominated for a National Book Award. Her work has been translated into 12 languages.

Chang-rae Lee is the author of the novels Native Speaker, which won a Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award for a first book of fiction and an American Book Award; A Gesture Life; and Aloft, which came out in March 2004. A contributor to The New Yorker since 1995, his story "Daisy", part of Aloft, appeared in the January 12, 2004 issue.
