The IP Telephony market continues to show a tremendous growth. The business customers are still using a lot of time gathering information, but they are also signing the contracts.
A year ago, the big issue was whether the solutions should be "pure IP" or "hybrid" – or "single-mode" vs. "dual-mode". Today, the differences are being blurred by cross-over solutions and surrounding add-on products and services, and the main question buyers ask themselves today is whether the solution should be an enterprise solution – with a PBX installed in the company – or hosted.
"Cost is still the most important factor when deciding for an IPT solution. But vendors must prepare for a market with an increased focus on business development factors such as vertically oriented applications on top of the IPT solution" says Karsten Fogh Ho-Lanng, Nordic Research Manager at IDC.
