Basic Principles and Clinical Applications of Helical Scan: Applications of Continuous-Rotation CT

In 1989, X-ray CT took a major step forward with the introduction of the Helical Scan method. This new method combines a slip-ring CT scanner and the acquisition of a large amount of raw CT volume data. Specifically, in Helical CT, the X-ray tube is rotated around the patient continuously while the patient is moved smoothly through the aperture of the CT scanner.
