From the Introduction: During the last couple of years, the media has given a considerable amount of attention to the human immune system. Much of this interest has been fueled by the resurgence of tuberculosis, the continuing AIDS epedemic and other diseases that either destroy the immune system or gain their deadly foothold once it becomes weakened.
