This IDC study shows that the 2004 Japan software market grew 5.3% from the previous year to 1.9106 trillion yen supported by the recovery of the Japanese economy. IDC forecasts that the market will have a CAGR of 3.9% in 2005-2009 to reach 2.3099 trillion yen in 2009.
"The Japan software market has entered the matured phase. Emphasis is placed on system value enhancement rather than the novelty and functions of individual products. Vendors must constantly and efficiently develop their core technologies and at the same time review/propose pricing systems and delivery models from the user's perspective," observes Kazuyuki Ide, software research manager, Japan Application Development Integration, IDC Japan.
