Crimes of the Heart

Set in Hazlehurst, Mississippi five years after Hurricane Camille, it is a story about a reunion of the three MaGrath sisters. They have come together because the youngest- Babe- has just shot her big-wig husband in the stomach because she says, "I just didn't like his stinking looks." A play rife with Southern sensibilities and poignant ironies, it has been compared to the works of Eudora Welty and Flannery O'Conner. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and Drama Critics Circle Award 1981.
